How Port Cycling Works

Ronin detects an offline device
Ronin monitors every camera and device. When one stops responding, it raises an alert.

It knows which switch and port the device is connected to in the Katana/Samurai network.

What is PoE Port Cycling?
PoE Port Cycling is an intelligent power-management feature that automatically restores unresponsive devices—such as cameras, servers, and edge units—without the need for manual resets. When a device stops responding, Katana (or Ronin when integrated) identifies the fault and triggers a controlled power cycle on the exact switch port, bringing the device back online within seconds.
How Port Cycling Works

Continuous monitoring identifies when a camera or device becomes unresponsive or stops streaming. -
Isolation
The system pinpoints the exact switch and port the device is connected to. -
Power Cycle
Power to that port is turned off → paused → turned back on, forcing a clean reboot. -
Recovery
The device automatically restarts, clearing common issues such as frozen streams, network glitches, and low-power lockups. - Verification & Logging
Ronin confirms the device is healthy again (online + stable) and logs the event for maintenance tracking or escalation if needed.
